Reading her article in The Daily Beast will clear things up a bit.
It seemed to me she was just being herself, no ulterior motives.
I follow Meghan McCain on Twitter so I had the pleasure of experiencing this in real time both the posting of the picture and the immediate rebuttals and reaction. Read it all here http://twitter.com/McCainBlogette
She reacted to the public's reaction like a normal person over the twitterstream and seemed genuinely angry and upset at the public's overreaction. I even saw her send a tweet saying "I am so f***ing quitting Twitter" and "Why if a woman wears a tanktop and sweat pants is she considered a slut". This does not do much to say her motives but I can also say that moments before that twitpic was posted she was doing as she usually does and letting us know that "I'm staying in tonight. gonna read my new Andy Warhol book" and then her next tweet was "the pic".
Too quote Meghan herself, from her article on the subject in The Daily Beast.
~quote
"To be honest, I don’t feel that I have anything to feel ashamed of. I’ve always embraced my curves and will continue to do so."
~endquote
When she posted this article to Twitter she indicated that this was going to be the last she would speak on the topic.

What I like about following Meghan is she comes across as real and even as a celebrity she still seems down to earth. She even took the time to equate this incident to Breast Cancer Awareness Month by posting a tweet linking us to the Breast Cancer Awareness homepage and also linking us to something called "Twibbon" which put the little pink awareness ribbon on my Mahalo avatar as well my Twitter avatar.
So if she is guilty of anything or had done this twitpic posting with an ulterior motive it (unlikely) was to raise awareness for Breast Cancer and in this case it really doesn't matter Breast Cancer Awareness Month was the beneficiary from the publicity of this incident.
If anyone would like to show their support for Breast Cancer Research by placing the Twibbon on their Twitter avatar ~~~>Click here

Some people are not aware of how they look. They may know that people see them as beautiful or sexy but they are not self conscience enough to know that certain looks or what they wear can cause a stir.
I certainly think she will think twice about posting pictures of herself again. She will definitely take a closer look at the picture before she posts it. I think she has learned her lesson.

Why did Meghan McCain posted her revealing picture in Twitter?
She said she is sorry about it. Does she really feels that way or happy about the free publicity?

I don't think she is sorry. I think maybe she is just baffled as to why her picture made such a stir. I think she took the picture and posted it without thinking. As she later revealed, she normally wears tank tops and sweat pants when alone in her apartment. How many times have we posted a comment, rant or picture on a social networking site and later regretted it. Some people are not aware of how they look. They may know that people see them as beautiful or sexy but they are not self conscience enough to know that certain looks or what they wear can cause a stir.
