There is suppose to Smurf movie coming out in 2010 with John Lithgoe and Julia Sweeney.
The tv cartoon in North America was cancelled in 1990 after a decrease viewers.
In 2008 a dvd was released with 19 episodes.
In 2005 Unicef used the smurfs in a Belgian tv commercial for a fundraising campaign aimed at adults and was aired at 9pm so kids wouldn't see it because of the content.
Teletoon retro in Canada started airing the Smurfs in February of this year and are still currenlty airing episodes.
