Bill Murray has never really been missing as far as I can tell.
His movie roles as a lead actor have dropped quite a bit since the 80s and 90s, but I think that is mostly from his age and the fact that he doesn't really need to prove himself anymore.
I'm personally a big fan of "Lost in Translation".
It seems that the older he gets, the more diverse his roles become (with the exception of adding more ghost busters movies to his resume)
