Ally McBeal, home to the dancing baby, ran on FOX for a total of five seasons. Critics rated it "innovative" while others called it "demeaning to feminism." All in all, it had good ratings that slipped towards the end of the series, which was the reason creator David E. Kelley decided to pull the plug. The cancellation was a shock to the cast and crew, and was an emotional goodbye to the Multi-Emmy show (to include the prestigious best comedy series emmy).
