The pilot, when Cliff tries to explain real-world money issues to Theo, by giving him monopoly money, and then having it trickle away for things like rent, food, clothing, a car.... and finally takes the remainder away when Cliff points out he'll want a girlfriend too. :-)

Are you sure you're thinking about the pilot.

My favourite is Season 2, Episode 22 called 'Theo's Holiday' where they convert the house into the 'real world apartments' to teach Theo about money issues.

I think we are thinking about the same episode.

I'm very sure. From the same exact site, take a look at the pilot episode.

In the pilot, it was because Theo brought home a bad report card, and Cliff tried to explain to him why he needed to graduate and go to college, because he couldn't support the lifestyle he wanted with a minimum wage job.

In Theo's Holiday, it was to teach him how the real world works, to show him how good he had it at home.
