The first major film to use CGI in any form may have been "The Andromeda Strain" in 1971, with its computer-generated map of the underground Wildfire laboratory.

The first full-screen bit-mapped graphics (2-D) appeared in "Westworld" in 1973, and true 3-D CGI animation (a brief shot of an animated face and hand) was first used in "Futureworld," the 1976 sequel to "Westworld."

That would be 1973's Westworld. CGI was used to create the point of view shots seen from the robotic gunslinger, played by Yul Brynner.
