"The Fermata", by Nicholson Baker.
Arno Strine, a modest temporary typist has perfected the knack of stopping time in its tracks and taking women's clothes off. He is hard at work on his autobiography, The Fermata, which proves in the telling to be a provocative, very funny and altogether morally confused piece of work.

Thanks for the synopsis. Good pick!
It's a graphic novel, but a novel nonetheless. A movie has been in the works for years, but something seems to slow it down all the time.
Elf Quest

I'm still waiting for J.D. Robb's "in death" series to be made into a movie. Although I think it would make a better TV series.
Farmer in the Sky by Robert A. Heinlein
Neuromancer by William Gibson.
I've waited years for this to happen and after a few false alarms, the movie is currently in production. Unfortunately, it's being directed by Joseph Khan whose only previous noteworthy credits are music videos for Britney Spears, Blink 182 and U2. Even more unfortunately, it seems that the casting people all went out and got dosed up on magic mushrooms one weekend and the lead role somehow got given to Hayden Christensen. Great joke guys!
So, that's a long winded way of saying:
Neuromancer. But properly.

Scott Sigler's Earthcore and JRR Tolkein's The Hobbit
A Mirror of Her Dreams and the sequel A Man Rides Through by SRDonaldson. Would make an excellent movie.
Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. But I have no idea how you'd fit it all in.
Ender's Game - it has been in pre-production for a decade, but has never gotten a green light. It would be cool if it were directed by Danny Boyle. I also agree, Neuromancer would be fantastic if it were done by, say, Guillermo del Toro.
Foundations - probably to a TV series.
