What is the best date movie out right now?

I'm thinking about asking my girlfriend out on a date tomorrow night.

What's the best chick flick out at the moment?

I recommend 'I Love You, Man' starring Paul Rudd. My husband and I saw it recently, and we both enjoyed it. It's the perfect romantic comedy...just enough romance and just enough humor.

Here is a brief synopsis from IMDB:
Friendless Peter Klaven goes on a series of man-dates to find a Best Man for his wedding. But when his insta-bond with his new B.F.F. puts a strain on his relationship with his fiancée, can the trio learn to live happily ever after?

If you'd rather rent a movie, The Reader starring Kate Winslet just came out on DVD today. It's great.

Asker's Rating:
• I would have picked Dr. Matt's answer (he was first with the I Love You Man) suggestion... but he also suggested the Hanna Montana Movie. Obviously I couldn't select his answer :)

Thanks Demanda! Hu... another vote for I Love You Man. That might be a winner.

The Reader isn't a bad suggestions... but I don't know if I can stomach it. I'll look at it a little closer.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm sure a lot of people would tell you "Duplicity," but I strongly urge you against this choice. I've heard Duplicity was unwatchable with a bad, pointless story. I've also heard Observe and Report was bad too.

I've heard great things (from friends) about Adventureland, and I'm mad at myself for not finding the time to watch it yet. It is a light hearted comedy with a good story and a feel good message. Surprisingly, it's been one of the best reviewed movies of the year! http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/adventureland/

Monsters & Aliens might be fun because it's in 3-D, but frankly it's target demographic is a bit younger than we are.

I'd go with Adventureland!

It very much depends on your, and more importantly, your girlfriend's taste in movies. There are tons of movies that my lady and I enjoy that wouldn't be considered "chick flicks". But, I do enjoy the romantic comedy.

Fast and Furious - full of non-stop action, cars, and girls. If that is something that is mutually appealing, then go for it.

Monsters vs. Aliens - I personally love most Dreamworks and Pixar movies. This is no exception. Great fun and very light hearted. Most ladies seem to enjoy these movies as well.

Knowing - I did not enjoy this movie at all. It had some of the most impressive special effects I have seen in a while, but the story was all over the place and not satisfying. I wouldn't recommend this one myself, but my woman enjoyed it.

Duplicity - I liked this movie quite a bit. Great cast and an all around fun movie. I hadn't thought of Clive Owen as being the romantic type, but he's good in this one. It's a good date night movie.

The Haunting in Connecticut - one of the best date night movies, in my opinion, is a scary one. Especially if the other party gets scared easily. You'll be there to comfort her. :)

These are the movies that are out that I have seen. So that's all I could tell you on personal experience. Hope this helps ya!

Hmm.. the Haunting in Connecticut might be good too. I'll have to see what type of mood she's in.

I'm hoping to get a little action after the movie. Do you think that a horror would help or hinder this?

Hinder. Unless you have friends like I do where we watch horror movies to laugh at them. :)

@robbrown It will help! Horror movies are great date movies because they get the adrenaline flowing, and a lot of girls like to have something to hold onto during them.

Too bad there aren't any good ones playing right now. You could always rent one.

Just saw I Love You Man last night with a lady friend... It is actually really funny and does a good job of filling the date movie requirements!
