I think it's censorship and it's lame.

For those who don't know, radio stations in America, and only in America, (anyone remember the First Amendment ?), decided not to play the song because some parents misheard the song's lyrics and thought Spears was saying f--k in the chorus.  They didn't want their kids hearing the F-bomb and have their lives ruined

According to reports, Spears has rerecord the track, removing the “k” from the end of “seek” and renamed the song "If U See Amy." If these parents are so uptight, why are they letting their kids listen to Britney Spears in the first place??!!

I've heard that some people are interpreting it as "Eff U C K me". I've never heard the song. It's just a commercial thing - sell records by shocking the old folks. I think she is getting her life back together a bit, and that's a good thing.

I'm not a Britney fan at all but I have to say the lyrics are a bit clever, if only to get here more attention:

"Love me, hate me, say what you want about me,
But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy (Eff-U-C-K Me)"

Some radio deejays on Sirius were discussing that some people thought it was a slight to Amy Winehouse until they wrote it out and realized a different meaning.
However, that Britney is rerecording it to "If you SEE Amy", just so it doesn't get banned, says to me she was never a real artist anyway and is in it for the money.  And, though it is not really grammatically correct to begin with, I have to agree with Perez Hilton:

"It will now be called If You See Amy.

But the song doesn't even make sense that way!

That is Sofa King Lame!

This is the first I'd heard of this. Does Brittney write her own songs now?

Hit Me Baby One More Time was written and co-produced by Max Martin.

"The track Martin co-wrote and entirely produced is called "If U Seek Amy", which has been confirmed as the third single. Different than Martin's previous produced tracks for Spears, "If U Seek Amy" is an electro-pop dance song, in which even the lyrics shows a different, more dance-oriented Max Martin."

Yeah, she didn't write it.

It's not even that clever. Or original.

I'm sure I'll be hearing the song nonstop, but until then I'll consider myself fortunate for not having heard it yet.

Definitely a play on words... a stolen gimmick that's not quite as clever as Dash Rip Rock's "If U See K" from the 80's
