I'll be the first to admit that I haven't seen every movie that James Woods has starred in, but I have seen quite a few!
He has worked with some of the greatest directors of all time!
1) The Virgin Suicides (1999) - Directed by Sofia Coppola. This is a story of 5 sisters living a sheltered life from the perspective of their former friends. Sofia does some great directing!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0159097/
2) Vampires (1998) - Directed by John Carpenter. A pretty decent traditional vampire flick... for its time.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120877/
3) Ghosts of Mississippi (1996) - Directed by Rob Reiner. This is a must see classic covering the racial politics of the deep south during the civil rights of the 60's.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116410/
4) Salvador (1986) - Directed by Oliver Stone. Woods stars as a journalist that goes to El Salvador and covers the events of the military dictatorship.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091886/
5) Once Upon a Time in America (1984) - Directed by Sergio Leone. This movie is a classic and should be watched with the original editing.
Sergio agreed to have the editing changed for the American market since they told him that otherwise the Americans would have a hard time following the plot. This re-editing made the movie horrible and the US market gave it crappy reviews.
It has since gone back to the original editing which bounces the story and unravels it beautifully! Sergio Leone is one of my film heros!
This movie is an epic story of group of Jewish men growing up in Brooklyn and becoming part of the Jewish Mafia.

These aren't necessarily the top five of his accomplishments, but I wanted to show the diversity of directors he's worked under.

• Cat's eye was brilliant acting.
I'd also like to find the movie where James Wood plays a defense attorney protecting but losing the case, for a grandma against a falsified child abuse by the state.
