no. it was a manifestation. probably of the smoke monster.

Mr. Eko saw his brother. (same thing) Eko's encounter with smokey ended differently than Ben's.

Hurley saw Dave. (now Dave is a special case, because he probably never existed other than in Hurley's mind.)

Kate saw a horse. Sawyer saw it too.

Perhaps Christian Shephard. (but since his dead body was delivered to the island in the cargo hold of flight 815, he may actually be re-animated, sort of like Locke.)

We don't know for sure that Claire is dead. But if she is, the Claire we saw in Jacob's cabin was probably also a manifestation.

These manifestations are from within the character's mind, but called up by smokey. (Or Jacob.) Sort of like Jodie Foster's dad in Contact.

I'm guessing it was some sort of monster smoke-induced psychotropic hallucination.

I think that it was the mysterious fog taking the form of Alexa. The fog has taken the form of other people before this. The character of John Locke is amazing. And did you notice that the guy who played Michael is now in the drama The Unusuals?
