I do think it is making it so there aren't as many acting jobs out there. I also think it's going to make it so there are fewer writing jobs.
From what I remember, we had very few reality shows until the previous writers' strike (not this past one 2 years ago, the one before that). When TV producers saw that the writers were thinking about striking, they throw up a bunch of crappy reality shows on TV just to fill the gaps. Lo and behold, the American public loves watching them, and they never looked back.

The rest of them remind me of high school popularity contests.
They tend to show a false-reality that is superficial and fake.
I say toss them all onto crab boats in the Bering Sea, and see which ones come back alive!

Reality tv, is Survivor and all reality tv putting great actors out of business? Less and less new shows that are not reality. Thoughts and
comments. Deal or no Deal really it doesnt allow any independent thought. Granted we need an escape but don't we need great tv and a little soap opera style reality tv

Yeah I remember the first strike. I wish the writers and t.v. companies would realize a strike only damages both sides. I have moved almost entirely away from network t.v. and have switched to cable. Cable has so many great shows on like; Rescue Me, The Closer, In Plain Sight, Monk, Psyched, Burn Notice,Leverage just to name a few

Deadliest catch is great. I also like Dirty Jobs, Ice road truckers and the new Time Warp.
