In LOST, nothing is what it appears on the surface. Jack is probably NOT the hero, and Ben is probably not the villain.

As time goes on, we will likely see Jack grow darker and darker, while Ben's actions make more and more sense of someone balancing a huge number of variables and simply making the best possible choices.

Ben is the "Others" supreme leader. Ben has the power to suspend the community law. Ben masterminds, manipulates, and forces Jack, Kate, and Sawyer to follow his plan. Ben claims he was born on the Island. I have my doubts that Ben is a good guy. Ben makes promises, keeps the promises, but the promises cause people to die.

Jack perjured himself in court and lied about Kate saving people. Jack admitted to Kate, near the Taxi, he lied. Kate said she knows and hear the story many times before. Is Jack and Kate the "Bonny and Clyde" bandit, burnout, and crash story?
