Not all of the primary characters escaped the Island!
I have an answer for you, but it does involve a *SPOILER* concept - the idea that they were never supposed to leave. They circumvented their fate thanks to Jack's choices. But they can't escape their fate altogether.
I don't think it has anything to do with Hurley's luck. I think it has everything to do with Jack so willfully and blindly turning his back on fate and spirituality and sticking by science that he's throws the world of every single survivor out of balance. Now it's up to him to course correct.
But what are the odds Jack will learn his lesson? Hmmmm.

• Jack keeps telling Kate, they need to go back to the Island. Ben meets Jack, but supposedly Ben died when moving the Island. Ben may represent the Island and the Island is calling Jack, back.
