I thought that was pretty cruddy, myself - the hobbling scene being one of the best moments in the entire film. (Of course, in the book, she lops off his foot, then cauterizes it...instead of just breaking his leg again. I think that was a better way to go, personally.)
They were working with a limited timeframe - half an hour, minus commercial breaks, to parody three full-length films. Something had to be left out - a lot of stuff, actually - so I guess that they figured it was more important to cripple Joe yet again than it was to include something that actually happened in the original movie. Oh, well.
Tonight's episode was still hilarious, especially the "Misery" takeoff, though. I love Stephen King - his older work, anyway - so I had a great time watching this one.
