This was a ground breaking event. During the campaign Obama maintained that he was in the game to change Washington. My original assessment was that he was being naive. But in the course of the Primary battle Obama and his staff built a ground roots structure that appealed directly to the American people and in effect this was the only possible option that held any promise of co-opting the business as usual posture of the Washington power structure. Time will tell if this strategy has legs beyond the electoral cycle. But if nothing else Barrack Obama is proving that he is a force to be reckoned with and is not operating within the limited positions of the past.
