Explain the treasure in the Movie "National Treasure"

Was the treasure connected to a real Olmec treasure?

Was the "City of Gold" myth or real?

The City of Gold is a legend. We don't know if it exists but it's highly likely that it could be real. Most of the stuff in that movie was just blown out facts to make it more interesting. you're probably talking about the second one movie. Historians have many theories, but I think there really was an Olmec treasure. However, I don't think it would be located near Mt. Rushmore.
