Absolutely not. Although he claims the development of the Jackson 5, it is entirely likely that Michael's talent would shine through had it not been nurtured by this abusive neglectful father.

Like battered wife syndrome, Michael felt he was the only support Joe Jackson would get, and felt bad for him. His paying money out of his own pocket was indulgant charity. And now that Michael's gone, few actually feel bad for Joe. Joe was rarely a good person.

Even if Michael was giving 15k a month, the party ended when Michael died. Now Joe should find his own way of surviving, instead of leeching off someone inherently good.

And even if the law says that a payment must continue, 15k is an exorbitant amount of money - some people survive with a paltry 2k a month or less. Joe can learn to make sacrifices of things he doesn't need, expensive clothes, fancy cars, smaller houses.

Yes, I think Joe Jackson should receive $15,000 from his sons estate. Court documents say that Joe receives a $1,700 monthly Social Security payment and had relied on his son for support for many years. Because of this I think that he should get some sort of money from the estate.
No matter what, he is the man behind the Jackson 5 and without him, there would never be a Michael Jackson.

Yes, Joe Jackson should get his $15,000 from Michael Jackson's estate. A lot of the name-calling comes from the media, and didn't come from Michael or his brothers. In the old days, when Michael was young, lots of parents called themselves disciplining their children in ways that would be considered child abuse now. If Michael forgave him and held a Joseph Jackson Day at Neverland Ranch every year, then that's what he thought of him as an adult. Michael Jackson did give his father a lot of money, all the time. Only after Joe Jackson lost out on some business deals, Michael started giving the money to his mother so that she could give it to his father in bits. $15,000 may be a lot of money to those who don't live with such high finances.
