I lost interest in Heroes at near the middle of the season. The writing just wasn't keeping me interested. I gave the show another chance and like it again.
My love for Lost has never wandered. I really look forward to watching it.
I think that part of the problem with Heroes is that NBC messes with the schedule too often. I want to know that there are 8 episodes of the show and they will run between Date X and Date Y. NBC has done all sorts of things in the midst of advertising revenue losses to encourage advertisers to spend money. They've done this at the detriment of the show. However, now that the writing and production of the show is back on track, I'm looking forward to seeing what next season brings.

Lost has consistently (for the most part) been very good. It started off well, and although it's not as good as it once was, it is still a quality show.

But I think Lost is more compelling, just because of the uber-mystery that is like an onion: every time a layer is peeled away, there turn out to be more layers, and our eyes water.
The writer's strike hurt both shows; I think Lost probably more because Lost was just getting to the really complicated part of the story line. Heroes has twice had major explosive disaster averted in storylines. There was a lot of tension in this season because the two strongest "good"guys, Peter and Hiro, were stripped of their powers, while Syler's just kept growing. Baby Touch n' Go was a nice little addition, but it would be nice if the two's powers were completely restored somehow.
Next year is the last for Lost, and I will miss it. I kind of wish they'd do all the tie-ins they were doing the first couple of seasons, with the Dharma Initiative and Widmore Industries websites, scans of journal pages (I guess from Daniel Farraday's journal), etc. That was really fun. And Heroes hasn't done that--extra episodes online are good, though.

I always thought Lost was a better show than Heroes. Heroes had some compelling story lines in the first season, but I felt that after the first year, it started declining in quality. I haven't watched it in a couple of years now. Lost has consistently (for the most part) been very good. It started off well, and although it's not as good as it once was, it is still a quality show.

I love Heroes. I really do. I think they have a lot of things left to explore--more story lines, more characters. But I think Lost is more compelling, just because of the uber-mystery that is like an onion: every time a layer is peeled away, there turn out to be more layers, and our eyes water.

I stopped being able to make sense of Lost somewhere in season two, and stopped watching in season three. The fact that I didn't manage to catch every episode didn't help!
Also I found it to be an endless tease, where nothing was ever resolved. You'd be hanging on to find out something or other, and you never got off the tenterhooks.
Heroes was at it's best in the first season. It's not been such a must-watch since, but still enjoyable. I think season three is better than two, and even two had a lot of good things in it, but was horribly affected by the writer's strike.
