Pat Robertson wasn't misquoted, but he wasn't referring to gay marriage either, at least not this time. His statement was in response to proposed hate-crime legislation, and he is apparently concerned that hate-crime laws will somehow protect people who have sex with ducks from prosecution for bestiality.
The logic of this escapes me. Hate-crime laws are targeted at criminals who victimize people for reasons of prejudice, and criminal acts are not protected by hate-crime laws. The only way Robertson's hypothetical duck molester could benefit from a hate-crime law would be if he were attacked by someone because he looked like a member of a targeted ethnicity/religion/sexual orientation/other. However, Robertson's target audience is presumably less critical of his logic than I am, so trying to link one conservatively unpopular topic with an unrelated one might actually work on some level.
