She has ended the fast which she described as an "expression of outrage" at the humanitarian crisis on the advice of her doctor. Richard Branson will "take over" the fast for the following 3 days in an expression of solidarity.

Yes. The 64 year old actress and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador began a fast on April 27. Although I'm not sure how much hunger strikes actually work as publicity for the cause they ostensibly are supporting, it's a time honored tactic. George Clooney was impressed, though, and called her "as dedicated to this cause as any activist I know. It's these kind of efforts that help keep this tragedy in the spotlight." She has ended the fast which she described as an "expression of outrage" at the humanitarian crisis on the advice of her doctor. Richard Branson will "take over" the fast for the following 3 days in an expression of solidarity.
