You asked for best book in the question, in the details you asked for books. If you want just one book I looked through amazon.com and from reviews, ratings and comments there this one by House of Blues looks like a great deal with high rating plus part one and two of an instructional program. If you want a number of books, the advantage of using a series like this one by John Ganapes is you get five books, with some cds, that are all complementary by the same teacher and taught in the same way. I did not notice any other series like that by one person so you could go far with that. However, in the comments they also say that you need some complementary books to fill out basic gaps so I have included a couple of those at the end. The reason I am also adding a computer software instructional software and two dvds (you can also find some in vhs format if that is what you use) is that both products were highly recommended, and also with it being a musical instrument that is normally taught by a person, just having books and cds to listen to skips that additional dimension of learning that could help a lot. There are others out there, I just picked a few that were highly rated. Good luck.

I don't know of any books but check out Stefan Grossman's guitar workshop. Tons of video lessons on how to play blues, fingerstyle, and other types of guitar. A great resource. Below is his "Blues in E" lesson.
