Hi,
EST is Eastern Standard Time and EDT is Eastern Daylight Saving time. Both these are the time zone for the Eastern Coast of USA (cities like New York, Boston, etc).
USA has 9 standard time zones, and Daylight Saving time is only used in summer for all the 9 zones. Daylight Saving Time begins at 2:00 a.m. local time on the second Sunday in March.
