What is the total addressable market for second language learning? AKA how many second language learners are there in the world?
Even better if you can tell me the total amount of English speaking Spanish learners in the world.
Other helpful info: breakdowns by age (total amount of adult language learners) and country (total amount of US language learners)

This is not a strait forward answer, but hopefully I can get you pointed in the right direction. Simply stating this as a percentage of population is ridiculous. Anyone attempting to quantify this answer usually is leaving out very big factors. Mainly the lack of accurate statistical tools to track this kind of data. Secondly, the industries lack of ability to deal with the need for adult ESL not only regular ESOL.
I say this as I am currently working for a government funded non-profit that deal directly in these markets.
Also there is no way to accurately track immigrant populations on the move which fluctuates the data.
Each market is different. Take for instance Taiwan which has a HUGE black market for second language learning.
Although this is highly speculative, but based on what I see in the are we work with, and my travels abroad. It would be a very conservative yet safe estimate to assume 10% of population.
If you looking for more specific figures on a given region it might prove helpful too look at the 10-Q statements of private ESL/Language training companies that deal in the markets you are focused on. They will probably have the best real-time/accurate picture of what you are looking for.
