In Britain however we wouldn't call a male one a ladybug at all though, we'd call both genders Ladybirds (although they are just as much not ladies as the aren't birds).

I don't think there is a different name for the male and female of the Species. In fact I can't think of any examples of insects where we do differentiate between the two. In Britain however we wouldn't call a male one a ladybug at all though, we'd call both genders Ladybirds (although they are just as much not ladies as the aren't birds).

Not all ladybugs are really ladies. There are male ladybugs too!
