For any Ivy League school, especially one as prestigious as Harvard, you have to be a little better than perfect to be considered for acceptance. Being at the top of your class, having a perfect GPA, and enrolling in the most difficult courses your high school offers are all very important. Unfortunately for some, very high to perfect test scores is also an important factor in admission. If you do poorly(or what is considered poorly for and Ivy) on the SATs, maybe the ACT will be a better fit for you.

Along with all the academic requirements, you have to be involved in valuable extra curricular activities as well. This does not necessarily mean a large quantity of activities, just ones that you are particularly dedicated to, and good at. Community service and work experience do not hurt either.

According to Collegeboard.com, the SAT and ACT ranges for Harvard are as follows,

SAT Critical Reading: 690 - 800
SAT Math: 700 - 780
SAT Writing: 690 - 790
ACT Composite: 31 - 35

And I am not entirely sure what you mean by "BYU". Brigham Young University?

Those scores are insane. These students have near perfect scores.

Yeah, they really are. Most people in America like to think that if they work hard they will be able to achieve anything, but sometimes that really isn't the case. To get into an Ivy League school, you will have to have a certain degree of intelligence, and depending on who you are, luck.
