Almost as long as some humans. But then again some humans live to be 100, most that I have known only live to be 80.

The river, or common, hippopotamus is one of the world's largest and heaviest animal. The name, hippopotamus, is from two Greek words which aptly describe this animal: river + horse. Hippos have been around for roughly 5 million years. In the wild, their lifespan is typically around 40 years.
In captivity, they frequently live into their 60's.
