His personal physician, Conrad Murray, stated he found Jackson in his room, not breathing but with a faint pulse, and administered CPR to no avail. While initial reports discussed the possible role of painkillers in Jackson's death, attention later turned to the medications he reportedly took for insomnia, most notably the anesthetic propofol (Diprivan).
On August 28, the Los Angeles County Coroner released an official statement saying that Jackson's death was a homicide caused by the combination of drugs in his system. Before his death, Jackson reportedly had been administered propofol, lorazepam and midazolam. Law enforcement officials are conducting a manslaughter investigation of his personal physician, who has told investigators that he had been trying to wean Jackson off of propofol.
