Next Question
I taught a Spanish Native class twice. One thing I can say about my students is, they liked learning about their country. Every week I will give them an article to read in class. The article was always about a different Spanish-speaking country or community in the U.S.A. After reading and discussing it orally, they had to answer written questions in complete questions. In addition, they will have a grammar exercise based on the article and the unit we were studying.
Another thing I would like to share with you is that, Spanish-speaking students like that you listen to them with respect. This is very important because many times, they are going to be sharing their personal experiences with the language or they will be talking about their parents' country. You do not have to agree with them, but let them know that their answer was interesting. Say one or two positive things before making corrections. Also remember that, for many of your students, your class is going to be their favorite class because they can speak Spanish.
I hope this helps. Good luck!
