Next Question
Absolutely. It is historical fact. There's enough revisionist history as it is.

This is about how I think it should be. It's not something you need to go in to detail. What use would that be? Spend a day or two on the important points, maybe a paper, and move on. If your going to cover events like this, there are hundreds of other events that should be covered too. If the students are interested enough, they will look into it more, but I think it's better to just dip a bit into more events, and not focus on just a few.

It is history, we are the human race. I'd suggest older students being exposed to the more detailed facts, but otherwise yes. Peace education and respect for others comes from understanding the devastation of war and some of the unfortunate horrors our human race.

I haven't been in school for well never mind that, but I learned about the Holocaust when I was in Jr. High. We were actually made to watch the movie then we had to do a report on it. Then when my daughter went to school they didn't even talk about it. I was pretty disappointed about that. It is history they should teach it!

We DID learn about it in 10th grade, but I'm sure it's not the curriculum everywhere. I don't remember much time being spent on it, we just briefly went over it as part of the World War 2 unit.
