What affect has the economy had on time travel?

Has the down economy affected the time travel industry positively, negatively or not at all? Explain in 1-7000 words.

I think maybe more people have spent some time indoors, less nights out on the town, lots of people are losing time because of it.

With more people indoors they are probably watching network TV, specifically Lost which has added elements of time travel into the story.

With the economy in the lurch, less and less scientists are able to afford the raw materials needed to build time machines.

Well, the economy has apparently pushed me back a number of years in time. Prior to the recession, I had planned to retire in about 20 years. Now, since my investments have taken such a loss, it's going to have to be a good 25 years or more -- so I MUST have been propelled backward about five years or so!
