I had many negative experiences at Amazon Mechanical Turk. When I emailed them, it took eons for them to reply about my concern. They accept workers outside the US but all you can do is transfer your earnings to an Amazon gift certificate. They do have an option to use a US bank account but how can we do that? It would be hard to ask someone or a relative even to have their bank account used with driver's license, and TIN or SSS number.

I think working there further defeats my purpose since I want to get the money I earned and not shop at their site. Why can they provide payments for India and not to other countries? I think this is unfair for there are many workers around the world that works on their site not only India. They are claiming that they provide access to a global, on-demand, 24 x 7 workforce but there is no effort on their part to improve their payment options for these "global workforce".

And if they suspend an account there is no due review done and what will happen to the money earned by this suspended account? It will obviously go to them for a suspended worker can no longer access their site. I know this for a fact since a friend of mine shared this experience with me. I worked there but I have decided to stop. I think I'll just shop the money I earned because there is no way of getting my hands on them.

I think Amazon Mechanical Turk needs a lot of overhauling to do if they don't want to have US and Indian workers only. They need to address this problem of payment options.

• Your answer, i hope could move others to do something about the injustices done by this site. Perhaps they are not aware of it because they just let "robots" do it? I wonders. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

So far I haven't had any negative experiences with Amazon Mechanical Turk. My only two complaints are
1. sometimes they take a week or more to pay you for the different tasks.
2. all task should start at ten cents, nothing less than that. This will be fair.

My experience with Amazon Mechanical Turk is limited; I've only been a worker there for about six weeks now.

For me, the pay for most of the HITS (Human Intelligence Task) is way too low to make it worthwhile as anything but a hobby.

Two things that they can do to make it better for the workers are:

1. Be more vigilant about eliminating the scammer requesters. If after six weeks I can figure out who most of them are then Amazon should also be able to.

2. Find a way to block BOTS from doing the tasks.

I had a *VERY* negative experience with Amazon M. Turk and a new iPhone app related to the concept. One particular task asked me to rate a sentence on how the author felt about a particular subject. It started out mundane and then the questions got WEIRD, very weird- and vulgar. I swear occasionally like most people, but grading sentences that got X rated and also full of swears threw up red flags. No warnings ahead of time, and seemingly useless information. Not worth my time, and really can't see how it's worth it to a business.

There are too many low-paying jobs and no way to rapidly find the same type of job, unless you're lucky and find a large group of HITs that noone else has found.
Fortunately Amazon Mechanical Turk is what helped direct me here. :)

Noone has ever rejected a HIT, but it just doesn't seem worth the time on the worker's side.

Sometimes if you do a lot of HITS well for the same requester they will email you and let you know when they are putting their hits up.

One actually included a bonus offer (which was paid) with a request that I do a certain amount of HITS. It wasn't a lot but it made the deal a little more lucrative.

It seems that there are quite a few members here who found there way from Amazon Mechanical Turk. ;-)
