Here is a simple recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Cranberry-Sauce/Detail.aspx
If you really want to use the ingredients you bought, you will need a thickening agent. Other than pectin, which was already suggested, you could try using unflavored gelatin. I'm worried that if you heated up the syrup, that it would harden and become a hard candy-like texture.
Good luck.

I bought a tin of syrup and a bottle of cranberry juice. If I boil the 2 together, what would happen?
The store was sold out and I didn't know how to make it, so I thought I could boil the syrup and gently add the the cranberry juice to make it into a sauce, is that right?

That should not work. You really need to have fresh whole cranberries to make cranberry sauce from. Here is a simple recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Cranberry-Sauce/Detail.aspx
