I'm not sure of the actual differences between 3.5 and 4 but I do know that 4E is more focused on ease of gameplay than previous editions. If you or your players feel bogged down with rules or needless dice rolling you might want to give 4E a shot.

• The nature of my question was mostly opinion, so its hard to select one as best. But this answer contained what I needed to ear, which was that the game is really for the players, myself included. Thanks for the insight!
