Tobacco comes to mind.
This drug has killed millions of people and is the number 1 case of addictions in the world.
In reality smoking is a choice, and well I don't believe that Tobacco should be illegal simply because it would become a bigger problem if it became illegal, not to mention the number of addicts who would need their cigarettes and would get them no matter what.
Cheers!

No, if fact I think some illegal drugs should be legal.

Making drugs like pot and even cocaine and heroin legal would make them managable, meaning you could control the content of the drugs and cut out the illegal activity associated with them. People are going to do drugs if they want to anyways, and as it stands there are no regulations put in place to deter "impaired" driving as the only way to check for drugs in the bloodstream is through a blood test... which is not as practical as a breathalizer.

In Ontario the liquor and tobacco is regulated by the government, the government places extra taxes on these things because of the health risks associated with them, which is then plugged back into the health care system. Yes it is more annoying to pay more for the goods, but you have to admit, it makes a whole lot of sense to make the people that are potentially ruining their health pay the premium.

The one thing the United States (along with a few other European nations) has NOT learned is that you cannot control the citizens with strict laws. People are going to do what they want and/or need to do regardless of ignorant laws. Not to mention, when a law is in place and the government tries to justify that law by lying and spreading false propoganda, you can only fool the people so long before they come to realize the truth, and then you have a ticked off populace. Congratulations! This is what's happened with marijuana laws. Now you have a population of people who know the truth, trust the government even LESS now, and do what they want anyway, flying in the face of what our government says is "right." Guess what? Those free-thinkers (aka dirty, pot-smoking hippies) are heroes and everyone should be kissing their butts because it's those people who are constantly questioning our government and helping to expose the lies we have been told, beginning with the biggest lie ever told the American public, that marijuana is a dangerous drug that should be outlawed and given "schedule one" status.

Whatever happened to the term "free country." We are moving away from the concept of freedom and more toward the concept of the government trying to control everybody (no, I'm not talking about Obama and all this socialism BS the right-wingers keep talking about), even when what that person is doing isn't effecting anyone but themselves. Usually (sadly), these laws are in place more for political reasons than to protect the public. When it comes down to it, a law will be put in place quicker to protect a major financial interest than to protect the citizens.

So, no, we need LESS laws regarding what we can or can't do.
