Why was 'My So Called Life' canceled so early?

The popular show on ABC was canceled due to low ratings and ABC could not promote the show effectively. Another reason was actress Claire Danes wanting to go to doing films instead of television. The scheduling and demands between the cast's own schoolwork and the filming demands was a reason too.
