I don't particularly like either of them, however, I'd go with Firefly. Firefly is basically a Western set in space (very much moreso than ST:TOS)... I didn't like it because I felt it was TOO much western and not enough sci-fi.
However, at least in Firefly there was a clear story arc, a bit of mystery, captivating characters.
Dollhouse... is.. well, boring. There's nothing really engaging or captivating about the characters or storyline.
It's less interesting than when it was called My Own Worst Enemy, or Quantum Leap, etc. etc.
Oooooh, pretty girl plays a different character or two each week, hangs out around the lab, and then goes out again. Yay.
There's nothing even engaging or interesting about the office politics. And the production values/quality just don't seem as good.

Firefly. More compelling characters, fresher plot, and better acting. I think Doll house suffers from the fact that it so closely followed, My Own Worst Enemy.

Firefly, without question. Dollhouse has, until now, been trite and stale. However, I did not see last night's episode b/c it conflicted with greatness. So I'm withholding judgement on the series as a whole. But since Firefly was a really fun, fresh, and original show from the beginning, I don't see Dollhouse catching up.
