I've had cats in the past.

Pros
Low maintenance - leave them food and water and you can go away for the weekend
They often like to cuddle
Litter box, 'nuff said

Cons
Too independant
Destroy furniture
Litter Box, 'nuff said

I have had two dogs, currently have a Parson Russell
Pros
Like to play rough
Likes to cuddle (like a cat!)
Small dog, so easily portable

Cons
Daily maintenance - walks, pee, etc.
Likes to bark at the wind

I'm a cat person and I personally couldn't own a dog, just because... well, I'm a cat person.

I like to think that we can live together (cat persons and dog persons), but to each his own. A cat owns you, in a way, and you own a dog. That's my perspective anyway, and that makes for very different pet experiences.

I agree a hundred percent with you, a cat owns you.But in y perspective animals are not to be owned but to be seen as another living being with a mind of their own, to be respected and apreciated as a gift from nature.

I am a cat person, I live with three of them(do not own them for you can never own a cat). Cats are independent, and make great companion. I also have a puppy, he is the one that have destroyed my furniture but I love him anyway. All four of them are rescued from the streets. In the end I have to say that i love animals too much to be classified just in one range.I just love love them, cherish and apreciate their lives, that is what really moves me.

I have both 2 cats and a dog, and (secretly - don't tell my dog), I'm more of a cat person. They're fairly low maintenece, high affection return and pretty much take care of themselves. I've always had cats, even when I was a kid, so maybe just growing up with them has influenced my thinking, but really, cats are very beautiful and interesting animals.

Not that dogs aren't interesting animals, don't get me wrong - I adore my dog and he's my best friend. He's super sweet, makes me laugh and we play and go on walks, he even makes me proud (every once in a while when he's not being goofy).

But still, like I said, cats are pretty easy to take care of, so maybe I'm just lazy(??)

We have had both cats and dogs. Our dogs have generally been much more involved with us and more affectionate than our cats. We like them both.

We have a cat now. We have had her over three months and barely see her. She constantly hides. She only comes out when we are gone or asleep. We know she is still here by the food being consumed and the litter box being used.

Never had a dog do that. :-)

Dogs have lived and worked with humans in so many roles that they have earned the unique nickname, "man's best friend", a phrase which is used in other languages as well. They have been bred for herding livestock, hunting, rodent control, guarding, helping fishermen with nets, and pulling loads, in addition to their roles as companions. So i choose dog. and also, CAN CATS DO THESE THINGS?

I have grown up with dogs
And I see them as our best friends.
They are also very like us in many ways.
Just now,I am not planning to buy a dog.
Beacuse of one reason, they are very like children - you can“t leave them alone too long
