My dog definitely prefers to go off leash whenever possible. We used to love going to dog parks and running around, meeting new friends... but there are so many people who see the parks as a place their pets who have either not been trained properly or who have been poorly socialized or who are just bullies to blow off steam and it makes the dog parks a much less fun place. I think that every time we have gone to a dog park there has been at least one pet there who is ruining it for everyone, and it only takes one naughty dog to send the whole group into a tailspin.
So I am going to have to say that we much prefer long hikes with a few good friends, both of the human and canine variety. The dog loves it because she gets to see new exciting things (we had a recent experience with a deer that astounded me. They went and got within about 6 feet of each other!) and she gets to run around a little bit in the great wide open.
We also do a lot of doggie play dates at various peoples' houses where they can run around in groups or if we are going to be gone for most of the day, we leave the dog at a group day care facility where they spend the day playing and swimming.
Bottom line: if we can do it off leash and in a group we love it. boring walks in the neighborhood as a last resort.

Wagging Wednesday Q: Do you and your dog prefer a dog walk with compatible canine pals or a visit to the dog park?
How do you and your dog like to enjoy the fresh air while having fun with other dogs and people and getting some exercise?
Some people have local dog parks nearby, if you don't do you wish you had one you could go to? Some people would rather trek with friends on a walk (either urban on leash or rural leash free)? Or do you hire a dog walker do take care of business?
What's your preference?

Sounds like your dog has the best of both in a way - has the chance to spend time just with you on walks and then time with other dogs in a (supervised) doggie day care. Must be a happy dog.

My dog and i like to mostly just play around the house. I play fetch with him and let him run free. There is not a dog park in my area but i would keep my dog on a leash whenever we go walking just for safety purpouses of him running in the road, other dogs comming by exc. Unless he is familiar with the other dogs and there has never been an exsisting problem.

Good idea to keep your dog on leash for safety. Sounds like you have fun together.

The dog park is a treat for our pup; off leash and able to socialize with other dogs in a safe environment. He enjoys walks on and off leash and play dates, but the trip to the dog park is probably the tops for him, and it does my heart good seeing him able to frolic with the other dogs.
