Dogs have been naturally designed to eat while standing, their canine fangs pull meat apart best while getting leverage from their front legs. Anything a dog does by instinct is going to have been learned over eons and hundreds of generations of doing the same thing time and time again.

You hit the nail on the head! The only time I worried about this was when I rescued a Great Dane. The very tall breeds need a little boost in their food bowls! (I would have to clear the table fast too!)
