Is it rude to play with a laser pointer with my dog or cat?

What do they think that it is? Are they crazy?

They just see it as something new that's invading their environment so it grabs their attention. Be careful, though, certain breeds of dogs can become obsessive-compulsive about chasing lights and shadows after exposure to laser pointers. I don't think cats have the same issue.

My dog isn't impressed with laser points. She looks at it with an intrigued look, then goes back to what she was doing.

Lol really. Yes my German Shepherd seems to be getting a little obsessive-compulsive about it.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with playing with laser pointers with your pet my best friend plays with her cats with it and we do with our dogs (granted they are hunters) but it is something that they want to learn about and they do it the only way they know how, by trying to catch it to figure it out.

That makes sense.

Can you be rude to dogs and cats? They're not people. Now if you're playing with your dog or cat with a laser pointer and ignoring the guests that you invited to your house, then you are being rude to your guests.

Ok, I guess the word I was looking for was not necessarily "rude" but possibly I meant "Cruel".

It's probably not rude. Just pet your pet or give it a treat afterward to smooth things over, just in case.
