Does the "ponytail" method work well for cutting layers into curly hair?

I would love to start cutting my hair from home. I am afraid to try this. I have read how to cut hair from home, the "ponytail" method. Some people suggest combing the hair down into two low pigtails, but I also seen a method that requires you to comb the hair straight up in the air into one ponytail. Then you just simply cut straight across, taking your time to cut it even. Has anyone tried either of these methods? Do they work?

The ponytail methods do work. Many folks turn to this ponytail method if they want layers in their hair. If money is tight and you prefer to try cutting your hair at home, this method is especially effective when you have curly hair. The layers do turn out a bit choppy and can be easier hid with curly hair. (If you are using the one ponytail up method the higher the ponytail the shorter your layers will be. The lower you place the ponytail the longer the layers will be.)

If you have bone straight hair you may not be delighted with the results. Truth is choppy layers are in, so if that is the effect you would like, go for it! Try the ponytail method of cutting hair at home.

If you are super picky about having a perfect haircut, it is always best to just turn to the beautician or professional.

I understand how the pony tail method works and can honestly say it probably would work, but i would not recommend it for someone with no experience. I cut my own hair and put layers in but I do it by seperating my hair into sections. It takes a very long time to do. If you dont have expierence then I would definately recommend going to a salon.http://www.ehow.com/how_6926223_layer-hair-using-ponytail-technique.html
