Does iced green tea provide the same health benefits as hot tea?

I've read several articles touting the many health benefits associated with drinking green tea. However, I prefer iced tea to hot tea. Will I still get the same benefits if I drink my tea cold? Note that I am talking of my own home-brewed iced green tea, so it's not packed with the sugar, artificial colors/flavors that some of the pre-brewed iced teas contain.

Yes, the anti-oxidants and vitamins in tea will still be in iced tea. According to popular thought, hot tea has the benefit of warm beverages in that your body doesn't have to warm it up; it can also be good for sinuses, etc., speaking only from personal anecdotal experience.

But in terms of the things that science articles mention about green tea, then iced green tea will have them as well.

If you're asking about the relative benefits of the same tea when consumed cold or hot, those should be identical if you brew them the same way, and simply cool one in the refrigerator prior to drinking it. If you add ice to the cold version, you'd need to drink more, simply because it is diluted. If you cold-brew the cold tea, it will most likely be closer to the native plant, as you will avoid the damage hot-brewing causes some of the organic compounds in the tea. However, all the above assumes that the touted health benefits are real in the first place.

If the iced green tea is freshly brewed and consumed promptly, then yes.

Otherwise, such as with buying bottled tea, the answer is no.

Why? The antioxidants in tea stay relatively intact in the dry tea leaf, but once the tea has been brewed, they begin to break down over time. It's best to avoid bottled tea. But if you're brewing your own tea at home, you should be fine, as long as you're not letting it sit for several days before drinking it. You can read more about this in the source I am attaching.

There is, however, one additional health benefit of drinking hot, or at least warm, tea, which is that warm fluids relax you by warming your body. Being relaxed can reduce stress and improve your overall health. But there are numerous other ways to relax, and if it's the summer, you're probably drinking iced tea to cool down, which is probably just as important!
