Does a hand held UV-C wand really work to clean and disinfect?
I read "The ultraviolet light eliminates E. coli, salmonella, staphylococcus, and germs that cause the flu and the common cold..." can this be true for just $89.95?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Depends on the product. Yes, the UV rays can kill bacteria.
If the strength of the UV is strong enough, and the length of time it is in contact with the surface is long enough, of course.
Here is a local TV station's review of sanitizing products, including some UV products. They also worked with a microbiologist to conduct the tests.

This steripen which is designed to purify water for drinking claims to work pretty well:

But if you are just running a wand briefly over a surface, that's a lot less likely to be effective. I can't give a run down of every product.
The science is sound, though.
