Do you think the United Way "mobile giving" will catch on?

United Way is running a 14-second ad for Superbowl 2009, where people can text in to donate $5 to a campaign to fight childhood obesity.

Do you  think this "mobile giving" will catch on? Is it something you'd be willing to do?

Maybe. I doubt it was clever to advertise on the Superbowl, where most people are partying and drinking, and won't be attracted to the idea of getting their mobile and donating money. Advertising on American Idol or Desperate Housewives seems like a better choice.

How ironic for an ad to raise money for childhood obesity to air among Doritos, Coke, and Pepsi commercials to be watched by people scarfing junk food.
