Do you think Sublime would still be making great songs if they were still around?
Most people will agree Sublime was an awesome band and their sound was epic. But if there were still around now do you think they'd still be making songs as good as they did?

I have definitely wondered this myself. Sublime's popularity spiked with the release of their self-titled album in the summer of 1996. Bradley Nowell, the lead singer, died of a heroin overdose in May of 1996, prior to the album's release. I was ten when the self-titled album was released, and I didn't start listening to Sublime until at least two years later. Keeping in mind that this was not Sublime's first album, the self-titled album made the band... As you said, "epic." Their reggae-punk rock sound was unique and catchy and cool. I think that sound alone was enough to make the band great and tell me that they'd still be putting out awesome music. However, there's a catch. Many of their songs had to do with drug culture or Brad's experiences with drugs... Bradley would be almost 42 right now. I wonder if it would be possible for him to both still be here and still have the inspiration he used for his lyrics. Maybe he would have gotten clean and written amazing songs about other stuff, but I have a feeling they wouldn't be so amazing after this long... So, maybe the musical career of Sublime was indeed cut short, but I'm not positive it could have perpetuated for another 14 years.
