Do you think Google will get into video games to go up against the Playstation, XBox and Nintendo Wii?

What should Google call its video game system?
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I don't really see Google enter the console market any time soon, if ever. But, I can definitely see them get into online game, or games in the web browsers. With the release of Chromium, Google will want people to have a good experience with online games. I could see them buying a Zynga type company, or even OnLive to help with their cause. They would be simple, as usual, and call it Google Games.

In order for Google to be successful at this time, it needs people to use the internet. And if they can get people to use Chromium, then they win.

I can maybe see 5-10 years down the road, Google coming out with a stand alone internet gaming computer. Once the services like OnLive are perfected.

Google goes only into markets that help it to extend its search business and increase its advertising revenue. It will probably offer some free online flash games with some advertising on the screen. Video games will not allow them to increase their main revenue source and does not fit their current investment strategy.

They've dipped their hands into to so many areas here lately I would say it could almost certainly happen. Have they shown any real interest, nope. I have a feeling the OnLive service colecchi mentioned will end up being sold to and perfected by Microsoft. The company has a history with Microsoft. So eventually this on-demand gaming will be right in Google's face from some major market leaders, and that may just tip them over into the gaming industry, if only in some minor way.
