Do you think Disney will ruin Marvel?

I can't believe Marvel sold to Disney!! They suck. What do you think about this? Oh and tweet this question so everyone out there knows this.

Well, one possible bright side I can see is possible collaboration between Pixar and Marvel Comics to bring some fancy computer generated effects to the future inevitable Marvel movie adaptations!

That and maybe a few more Apple tie ins as Steve Jobs sits on the Disney board.

And as was mentioned, I think Disney is a bit improved over a few years ago.

But on the downside, Disney is quite known for being a bit over-strict on protecting their "intellectual property". So in that respect, we may see a few less "un-official" spider man costumes this Halloween..

Disney is all about being the best so I hope it would only help Marvel and not hurt it. Disney's philosophy seems to be to keep raising the bar to provide the best quality product that they can. They want to be the best and they usually succeed in most aspects. I think it is a good thing.

I'm going to maintain a "wait and see" holding pattern on this one. They claim to not plan to screw around with their properties, but we all know how Disney likes to have a paw in things.

Honestly...NO I dont think Disney will hurt Marvel at all. I think its a huge marketing stunt.

Disney is usually in our minds as a place for kids to get G rated tv shows, movies, etc...no one 15+ could care about Disney content unless they are grown up w children. In my case, most Disney shows are useless.....but I have kids and thus I have no choice but to watch them.

Now...Disney owns Marvel - and what will we see anytime new Marvel content is released - the DISNEY name...it will grow their market share and bring people to them to see what is going on with Marvel. Marketing wins.....

Are you with me?

No I dont think so....but I think it will raise awareness amongst elder teens and remind them that Disney does in fact exist.

This is the 1st I have heard about it. I'm not sure what will change by having Marvel owned by Disney, but what I do know is that Disney is a huge company that owns everything from movies, to theme parks, to cruiseliners. They obviously know what they are doing so I think Marvel will be just fine under their control.

I'm the pessimist - and believe anything that has a Marvel character on it will have licensing fees substantially increased.

Disney: "You want to use Spiderman for a promotion? National exposure your say? Remember what you paid last year? Multiply that by 6, and we have a deal."

You'll also start seeing a LOT more use of the characters on ABC networks, in advertising, product placement, etc...

Very smart on Disney's part. Not so sure about Marvel. I take a "wait and see," attitude. Disney is a much better company than it was a few years ago.

Agree this is good for Disney. Wonder if we will see Spiderman at Disneyland now?

Well it seems like Disney has fully adapted to what's up these days so I'd look forward to it. Imagine the creations they can make with their endless amount of money.... The remake of Alice In Wonderland by Disney looks really, really good and shows what Disney is now truly capable of.
Peace!
