Do you have fears about using the Internet, or any Web 2.0 services that involve cloud computing?

If so, what are you afraid of? What would you change about these services to make them more friendly?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I don't have fears of using the Internet or Web 2.0 services - I do have reservations on what I put on the web though. Although I do send out a lot of information through the multiple social networks that I'm on, I am also careful to put out unnecessary information, keep my networks secure (and private) and be aware that any data I put out there is no longer ' safe' in the sense that there's a possibility that it might be leaked (due to whatever security failing).

There's probably not much that can change to make me trust the services more - I'll always think about what kind of data I'm putting out there on a daily basis and that won't change, even if my data was guaranteed to be safe.

The old saying goes something like "any three people can keep a secret, so long as two of them are dead." When you place your data on someone else's servers, and send that data over the Internet, the potential for security breaches is very high. Especially when you consider that having a great deal of such data in a centralized location increases the temptation for hackers compared to having to separately hack the individual computers of all the people who otherwise would have kept their data on their own computer. For this reason I will avoid any cloud computing that includes sensitive information such as personal identification, financial transactions, etc. If I was into such games, perhaps I'd be willing to play computer games that provide better performance and/or interactivity with other players via cloud computing.

Since my concerns are intrinsic to the model of cloud computing, there is nothing that can be done to make them friendlier and have me use them.
