Paparazzi] is a loosely used term to describe people who follow celebrities to get candid pictures of them. Some photographs can be worth millions. In that sense some paparazzi make a lot of money. Most do not. The average cost of a cover photo is between $4,000-$10,000. It is said that People magazine paid $100,000 for a picture of Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson just holding hands. It is hard to make a living doing this. Those who do manage to land one or two big images early in their career can fund their lifestyle with the proceeds.

There are legitimate celebrity photographers like Annie Liebowitz, Suze Randall and others where the photographer has permission to photography the celebrity.
